Not writing but still doing

Since nobody reads this, my motivation for writing is pretty small. I journal every night in a notebook, so I do keep track of things like exercise in there even, but I do want to keep up the blog, so here goes....
Today, I did my "sprinting" because last night, we (Dave and I) ushered at the Paramount downtown for Mama Mia and I didn't want to get out late in the night.
Since I went by myself, I decided I was going to look for that app Zombies Run! that I read about on The Clothes Make the Girl's blog: http://www.google.com/reader/view/?hl=en&tab=wy#search/zombies%20run/1
So I found out, it's not out for Android phone users yet.
So, I set a 20 minute alarm and walked/ran the neighborhood - I went down by the park and around that way - I haven't gone that way in a while. I did turn back before the big hill heading out to whatever the street is called at that point - I turned around and ended at home.
I liked it. It felt good.
I donated blood this afternoon and should be good to go to "lift heavy things" tomorrow night!

Back from vacation

I went to Eastern Tennessee to visit my Mom and brother for 10 days. My brother is an amazing cook and he invited us for 3 meals. He isn't primal but very kindly, did the research and cooked me amazing primal meals.
From soup, salad and main courses - they were delicious.
Eating with my Mom at the Assisted living place was difficult. I have no idea why they feed the people we call "the inmates" so many starchy carbs. So I ate what I could and would bring salad or carrots and dip for days I couldn't and I had food in the motel room I could cook for breakfast (eggs and sausage) I thought bacon would be too messy.
I purchased some microwavable bowls at the Good Will. I'd put in 1 sausage patty and cook for 1 minute. (covered with the other bowl) Then break in the egg, poke the yolk with my plastic fork and cook about another minute. Amazing!
I missed my hot cocoa with coconut milk, coco powder and coconut oil but that was too expensive to get for short term.
And I was able to keep up with my "lift heavy things" The "closet" in the room, was one of those wire jobs that attach with braces to the wall, making it very sturdy and I could do my 2-leg bench assisted pull-ups. I didn't really have a bench but the bar was much lower than my chin up bar at home and worked pretty well with me standing on the floor with legs in a squat position.
And it's funny, it seems like every time I read the instructions to the exercises, I see something I didn't see before. The pushups say lower my chest to the floor. I think I was lowering my chin before. Man, the chest is harder!
So now I"m back home and today is lift heavy things day again. I must get down there. I'm not acting very motivated. I will get down there though. I promise.
(I've been feeling tired with the time-change and probably a bit depressed from leaving my Mom)
But I'll do it - today.

Colds are no fun!

I'm still hanging in there with my primal workouts - even though this cold is slowing me down. On my last "lift heavy things" day, I only did 2 out of 5 moves before I went to work and was so wiped out at the end of the day, didn't do the rest.

I'm never sure if it's better to rest when you feel sick or whether you should keep pushing. It's kind of like starve a cold and feed a fever - never remembering which is the real one.

Today is my sprint day. Last week, I did stairs because Dave was the one who was out sick. I haven't actually gone for a walk since Thursday - so it may not take much to achieve a sprint. We'll see what I actually do.

I have slept 2 nights in a row for about 12 hours each! That's got to be helping. I wake up feeling my head clearer, but it clogs back up once I get out of bed. Oh well.... I have one more day before I go back to work - I can do this!!!!

Lifted heavy things

Yesterday was my "lift heavy things" day - I was extra careful not to read the wrong line and do WAY too many of anything. So that went better. I didn't shake so much after!

But being the first day back at work in about a week, and having not slept so well the night before, I was really tired before I began. It would have been pretty easy to skip it all together, promising I'd do it today. But I want to stay on track - and I don't want to get out of sync for which days are what on my Primal Blueprint exercise plan.

I definitely am getting stronger! Tee hee!

This morning, I woke up between 6 and 6:30 which meant I didn't get 8 hours sleep, but I never get up this early. The good part is I'm not worried about anything, just awake. I do have to be at work at 9:30 - I hope I don't forget!

Primal play - build a snow man

The snow continues in the Pacific Northwest!
Yesterday evening, Dave and I built a snow man out in the front yard and then we took a walk in the icy snow!
That's a fun play that doesn't happen very often.

Sore today

I keep a notebook with my Lift Heavy Things workout on it.
Yesterday, I pushed myself pretty hard and accidentally did more pull-ups than I was supposed to - my eyes landed on the wrong sheet and I thought my goal was 50. Oops!
It was really 20, I think. But would you believe I made it to 50. Now you have to know I'm in the beginning stages and do "leg assisted" which means I'm standing on a stool trying to put the weight on my arms with assistance from my legs - so it's not like I did 50 REAL pull-ups. Still, the most I did so far is about 15.
My arms were shaking after that!
But by golly, I did it.
And I did my full number of wall-squats too.
I'm definitely getting stronger - there's no way I could do that 2 weeks ago.
I'll go treat myself to a hot bath - that should help the aches today. And besides it is a snow day, so I can do whatever I want!

I'm really doing it!

I haven't written much but have been keeping up with my Primal workouts. For 2 weeks now, I've done it! I'm very proud of myself.

Here's my routine: On Sunday nights, that involves some sprints. So far, Dave and I have added 3 sprints into our regular walk. And I can tell last Sunday, I could go a bit faster. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

2 times a week is "lift heavy things" which involves lifting my own weight in 5 moves. Now mind you, the point is to build up to lifting my own weight - so the pull-ups are done with assistance of the legs by standing on a step stool, the squats are done against a wall ( though I think I'm almost ready for the next step for them), there are planks, wall push-ups and another kind of lift that I have trouble remembering. I've been able to increase the number already so I really am getting Stronger every day!

I sent my info to Mark's Daily Apple and realized I didn't attach the photo. I sent it again yesterday, but it's probably too late. They got about 500!!!!

Tomorrow starts week 3!

Starting the physical part of the Primal Blueprint 1/1/12

I started doing the Primal Blueprint way of eating about 8 months ago. I've lost 19 pounds and feel good about that. And I'm fairly pleased with how I look. My beginning goal was to get under the "overweight" line for my height/weight! I did it!!!
The Primal Blueprint method of physical is not overly aerobic. We bought a piece of equipment that will allow me to do some of the 5 moves - mainly the pull-ups! I can fit a stool underneath to begin with the leg-assisted pullups.
It's going to take a while to get to non-assisted! But I'm happy to be starting. And I hope to become stronger every day!
Wish me luck!
